The Chiana Valley


The Union of towns of the Val di Chiana Senese is among the 10 finalist vying to be proclaimed Capital of Italian Culture 2026. With its 500 square km of extension, the ancient roman Via Clanis includes the towns of Cetona, Chianciano Terme, Chiusi, Montepulciano, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano, Sinalunga, Torrita di Siena and Trequanda. A unique location in countryside, full of charm, surrounded by olive groves, centuries-old cypresses, smooth hills, and termal baths but also rich of artistic beauties forged by the hand of man, craft shops, and tasty food and wine.

Just 5 km from the Valdichiana highway exit, Torrita di Siena is just 10 minutes by road from Montepulciano and 20 minutes from Pienza.

Located in a central position in an ideal quadrilateral between Siena, Arezzo, Perugia and Orvieto, it is the ideal place and starting point for excursions to many towns, as well as close to Cortona, Rapolano Terme and Trasimeno Lake. Alternatively, you can always stay in Torrita di Siena, stroll through the alleys of the hamlet rich of  references to historical and legendary events or reach and visit the small town of Montefollonico, among the most beautiful villages in Italy following the Vin Santo path on foot or on horseback. And  after a long day of activities you can finally taste a good wine or a craft beer, savour cured meats, cheeses and typical dishes of the country.
